This Sunday sees the end of the old and the beginning of the new sailing year. We had a great 2017 with our two great regattas, one State championships and increased numbers every weekend. We have more than doubled the number of Lasers sailing each weekend withe the regular cats and increasing numbers of visiting sailor. We now have a more visible pathway for our juniors into serious yachts as they leave tackers.
We have heaps planned for 2018; more courses for members, development programs for sailors and non-sailors, five regattas, new equipment and a seriously increased membership. Be there to hear it hot off the press.
The program for Sunday’s Presentation Day is:
9:30 – 12:30 Senior social sailing followed sausage sizzle
10:30 – 12:30 Junior sailing and complementary sausage sizzle
1:00 – 1:45 AGM
1:45 – 2:00 Presentation of 2016 trophies and awards
2:00 onwards Barbecue
The AGM is particularly important this year. We are considering the new HYC Constitution to take us forward as well as to set the fees for 2018. Your Committee also needs to update you on the direction planned for 2017/8 and the events that will take place over the next 12 months; not just for the seniors but also for the junior fleet who have an exciting season mapped.
We are also looking for new ideas and input into marketing and finance. Any contacts club members may have into the construction game wold be welcome too as we intend to start the processes to get the Clubhouse expansion happening this year. The Council is offering support and are keen to see us grow our presence.
If you have not received the Agenda and the draft HYC Constitution for approval, it means that you are not on the membership email list for some reason. Please contact David Begley on email@example.com and we will have the documents out to you immediately.
Come on down, have some fun, have your say and get get to know the new faces in the Club over a free burger and a beer or goffa or two.
